                                Animal Farm

The title of this book is called Animal Farm by George Orwell. It was copyrighted in 1946 and the book is a fable. The subject matter of Animal Farm is about animals who take on some human characteristics and rule the farm. Some information you should know about the book is Napoleon is a pig and he rules the farm. He starts to turn evil  and when things go wrong he blames it on other animals. The general plot of the book is the animals rebel against Mr. Jones who is a farmer and Napoleon wants to be the leader and control the other animals. The plot of the book is Napoleon and the other animals forced Mr. Jones to leave the farm because they want to rule the farm and have a leader that treats them better. Napoleon becomes leader of the farm but the animals on the farm  do not know that Napoleon has his own ideas on what to do. The animals start to notice that Napoleon is acting more human like and breaking all the rules that he promised. The overall theme of Animal Farm is be yourself, do not be something that you are not.

In the book the story is told in third person and the author's point of view is he made the pigs on the farm act similar to the dictators and leaders in Russia during the 1940s. Animal Farm takes place on a large farm that Mr. and Mrs. Jones own. They have many different types of animals.  The plot of the book is the animals take over the farm and try to make it better for them but when Napoleon becomes leader, the animals are put to extremely difficult work and he begins acting like Mr. Jones. I think the intended audience for this book is teenagers because some of the vocabulary in the book is difficult and some parts are  gruesome. An example is when Napoleon executes some of the animals for betraying him. The genre of the book is fairy tail because the animals talk to each other and are able to communicate with humans. Also the animals can read, write and build. An example of this is when Napoleon and the pigs are talking to the farmers to trade eggs for food. The author keeps me interested in the book by having exciting incidents happening throughout the book and he makes you wonder what Napoleon is going to do next. The author's style of Animal Farm is having small conflicts throughout the whole book and a few gruesome parts. It is effective for the author's intended audience because it makes teenagers want to read more and most teenagers like action and gruesome situations.

The book affected me because it makes me sad that the animals trusted Napoleon and he let them down by becoming a dictator. It reminded me about Socialists and the author's point of view about socialism. I did not change my ideas about Socialism because I already know how evil it is and how it takes away human rights. I learned about it in social studies and from my parents. It fits in with my own personal world views because I know that there is socialism in the real world and many of the citizens in those countries are unhappy. Some countries who have a socialist government are extremely poor and the government controls the money. Animal Farm reminds me of the book Lord of The Flies because in both books the leaders of the group are power hungry and hateful. The leaders in Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm would kill males and females who disagreed with them or people who would not join their group.

I think Animal Farm is an amazing book because it has good quality excitement and the book is told in the animals' perspective. That is very creative of the author! I recommend the author make the ending more interesting because he ends the book by the animals seeing the pigs communicating with the humans and playing games with them.
